7,000 runners to join Mekong Delta marathon for climate change
VOV.VN - The third Vietcombank Mekong Delta international marathon is scheduled to take place on July 17 in Hau Giang province aiming to raise public awareness of the climate change issue.
More than 7,000 athletes from across the world have registered to run the four different marathon routes on offer, namely the five km, 10 km, 21 km, and 42 km races.
The organisers stated that participants would have the chance to enjoy the delta’s amazing scenery and culture during the run. They would also have the chance to join the Hau Giang trade fair, food, fruit, and traditional cake festivals.
The race was first held in 2019 and the previous two races attracted a total of 11,000 athletes from 15 countries and territories who ran a combined distance of approximately 80,000 km.
Once complete, each participant becomes an ambassador for spreading the message of the necessity of combating climate change in the Mekong Delta region and across the country.
