Wartime bomb deactivated in central Vietnam

VOV.VN - The Military High Command in the central province of Nghe An said on February 27 that they have defused a bomb weighing up to 120kg that had been left over from the war.

The bomb was found four metres deep underground in a garden of a local resident of Hung Thanh commune in Yen Thanh district of Nghe An province.

Local authorities quickly put up warning signs in order to ensure people stayed out of the area.

Engineers from the military headquarters of Nghe An subsequently extracted the bomb, which measured 1.2 metres in length and still had a detonator, before taking it away in order to safely dispose of it.

In July 2022, local military forces deactivated a similar bomb near the site the February 27 bomb was detected.
