VOV.VN - The Voice of Vietnam (VOV) will speed up a Vietnamese-invested radio and television broadcasting project in Cambodia to help modernize the broadcasting technology in the country.
VOV President Nguyen The Ky made the commitment at a virtual meeting with the Cambodian Ministry of Information on September 14.
Ky said the Vietnamese Government has assigned VOV to work closely with its Cambodian counterparts to accelerate the implementation of the project.
This is an important project that should be implemented immediately, Ky stressed at the meeting.
According to Ky, alongside building a venue for transmitters, an audio centre and a broadcasting house, VOV will host training courses for Cambodian technicians and broadcasters.
The project “Strengthening the capacity of production, storage and broadcasting for the National Radio and the National Television of Kampuchea” was agreed by the Governments of the two countries at the 16th Session of the Vietnam - Cambodia Joint Committee in 2018.
Under the project, FM transmitters will be installed in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap to air, among others, a 60-minute programme in Vietnamese and a 30-minute programme in Khmer every day.
Ky said VOV hopes to receive Cambodian radio and TV broadcasts to be aired in Vietnam, to popularize Cambodia’s development achievements in the country, contributing to strengthening the comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia.
