VOV.VN - An explosion occurred at the Maruyama Painting Industry factory in Tonoshima of Kadoma city in Osaka Prefecture at around 4:00 p.m. on December 28 (local time), causing three workers to suffer severe burns, including two Vietnamese interns.
The Labor Management Board of the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan has since contacted relatives of the Vietnamese workers, as well as the management union in Japan and the dispatching company in Vietnam to learn more about the situation and help deal with any related issues.
The fire almost completely destroyed a two-story steel-frame building covering about 300 square metres, according to the fire department and police. The facility was undergoing a thorough cleaning at the time and the cause of the explosion has not yet been pinpointed.
According to relevant agencies. the two injured people are Vietnamese workers born in 2001 and in 2004, who went to Japan in order to work in a trainee programme. Currently, both Vietnamese workers are in a coma and are unconscious, whilst one suffered third-degree burns, the most severe level.
Phan Tien Hoang, first secretary, head of the Labor Management Board of the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan, said that the Labor Management Board and the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan have since issued a document instructing the dispatching company in Vietnam to co-ordinate efforts with the union and work alongside the hospital treating the workers to provide treatment to ensure the lives and health of the two victims.
As the patient suffered burns all over his body, partial surgery will be required, doctors said, adding that the hospital is doing its best to treat the two Vietnamese workers.
The Labor Management Board has already contacted the families of the two injured in order to visit, encourage, and answer some questions related to treatment and insurance.
The explosion site is situated roughly one km south of Keihan Kadoma-shi Station, near the large shopping center "LaLaport Kadoma" and the Kadoma interchange on the Kinki Expressway.
