Vietnam set to endure rainy period during Mid-Autumn Festival

VOV.VN - Each of the nation’s three regions are due to witness a spell of rain and thunderstorms both at night and during the morning between September 30 and October 2, just as celebrations for the Mid-Autumn Festival are held nationwide.

It is forecast that heavy rain, accompanied by strong winds, will hit the country from September 26 to September 29, with the amount of rainfall expected to recede over September 29 and September 30 with some regions enjoying a spell of sunny weather.

Following this, rain will return from the night of September 30, whilst the nation will endure heavy downpours on October 1, or the 15th day of the eighth lunar month, during the start of celebrations for the Full Moon Festival.

It is anticipated that the majority of rainfall will occur at night or early in the morning, whilst thunderstorms are expected to bring a high possibility of whirlwinds, lightning, and strong winds.

Furthermore, landslides could also occur in a number of mountainous provinces in the north, including Lai Chau, Dien Bien, Son La, Lao Cai, and Yen Bai. Due to this, local authorities have been urged to take precautionary measures in a bid to help local residents and prevent any considerable damage occurring to people, property, and infrastructure.

Meteorologists predict that the rainy period will last until October 3.
