Vietnam records zero new COVID-19 cases, with 1,920 recoveries

VOV.VN - The nation detected no additional COVID-19 infections on the morning of March 5, leaving the overall number of cases unchanged at 2,488, according to the Ministry of Health.

Along with no new infections, a further 22 coronavirus patients were discharged from hospital one day earlier, lifting the total number of recoveries to 1,920 nationwide.

Among the patients currently receiving treatment for the virus, a total of 259 cases have since tested negative for SARS-CoV-2 at least once, with the majority going on to record several negative results.

In line with the overall figure, 1,572 involve cases of local transmission, including 879 found since the initial recurrence of the virus in the northern provinces of Hai Duong and Quang Ninh in late January.

Furthermore, more than 49,560 individuals have been placed into quarantine across the nation after coming into close contact with infected people or having returned to the nation from pandemic-hit regions.

Meanwhile at a recent press conference regarding the socio-economic situation in Hanoi capital and COVID-19 prevention and control, a health department representative said that the capital has basically contained the epidemic situation, but still needs to strictly implement anti-pandemic measures, while considering this a regular task and staying active in prevention and control work.

Hanoi has gone 17 straight days without recording no new cases of local transmission since February 16, 2021. The municipal Health Department has tested nearly 18,000 people in locations related to infected cases in the capital, and all of the test results came back negative for the SASR-CoV-2 virus.

In Vietnam, the number of coronavirus infections has displayed a downturn compared to the previous time, while the northern province of Hai Duong still keeps recording fresh domestic cases  with most of them being F1 contacts, which had been isolated in concentrated quarantine areas.

Hai Duong province remains the epicenter of the nation’s COVID-19 latest outbreak with 695 cases.

The nation has documented a total of 2,488 COVID-19 cases, with 35 fatalities so far.
