Vietnam records two more COVID-19 fatalities, tally at 64
VOV.VN - The Treatment Subcommittee under the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control confirmed two deaths caused by COVID-19 pandemic on June 19 in the northern provinces of Bac Giang and Thanh Hoa, thereby raising the death toll caused by the virus to 64.
The 63rd patient was a 90-year-old resident of Bac Giang province who had been diagnosed with severe pneumonia caused by SARS-CoV-2. Some of her health issues related to complications of progressive respiratory failure, septic shock, multi-organ failure with a history of hypertension, type two diabetes, necrosis of the left forearm, and senility.
The patient died on June 18 as she did not respond to treatment for these health issues.
The second fatality was a 67 year-old patient in Thanh Hoa who had a history of bronchial cancer (T), along with bone and pleural metastases.
The patient passed away on the same day with a diagnosis of pneumonia caused by SARS-CoV-2, septic shock, invasive candidiasis in a patient with stage four left bronchial cancer, pleural, and bone metastases.
These mark 28th and 29th COVID-19 related deaths recorded locally during the fourth wave of the COVID-19 pandemic to hit the country. Most of the dead patients were old and had been suffering from chronic diseases such as cancer, kidney failure, hepatitis, and hypertension.
