Vietnam promotes green finance and technology

VOV.VN - The nation is actively carrying out a roadmap for an improved legal framework to better attract green finance and green technology, whilst simultaneously encouraging green production and investment.

Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha made the statement on January 16 while attending a dialogue regarding green finance and sustainable development within the framework of the 53rd World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting 2023 in Davos in Switzerland.

In his speech, Deputy PM Ha outlined that considering the green economy and green transformation as an important growth engine over the long term, the nation is facilitating green transition, energy transition, and transition to a circular and low-carbon economy.

Furthermore, amid digital transformation in all fields and at all levels throughout the country, the nation requires cooperation in digital transformation and the exploitation of digital resources.

The Deputy PM therefore called on corporations to ramp up investment, support the country in its green growth ambitions, and competently implement international commitments regarding sustainable development and climate change, including those delivered at the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) in Glasgow.

Leaders of corporations used the platform to express their positive impressions of Vietnamese GDP growth, congratulated the country on its economic development achievements, and appreciated its economic prospects.

Investors also applauded strong Vietnamese commitments to carbon neutrality at the COP26, as well as the negotiation process to establish a Just Energy Transition Partnership.

On that basis, international corporations and investment funds expressed their wish to accompany the Vietnamese Government, actively seek investment opportunities, and implement green projects in the country moving forward.
