Vietnam presents COVID-19 medical supplies to Cambodia

VOV.VN - Vietnamese ambassador to Cambodia Vu Quang Minh on May 26 handed over Vietnam’s medical supplies to Cambodian Health Minister Mam Bun Heng, to help Cambodian to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Vietnamese Government’s gift is comprised of 800 ventilators, two million medical face masks and 300,000 N95 masks.

Addressing the handover ceremony, ambassador Minh spoke highly of the measures the Cambodian Government has adopted to slow the spread of the virus in the community in recent times, and expressed his hope the Vietnamese donations will make a practical contribution to Cambodia’s COVID-19 fight.

The government and people of Vietnam always attach great importance to the friendly and close neighbourly relationship, as well as the tradition of mutual assistance in difficult times with the government and people of Cambodia, stressed the diplomat.

He said he believes the government and people of Cambodia will soon successfully control the latest COVID-19 outbreak, quickly recover the economy and maintain sustainable development.

Cambodian Health Minister Mam Bun Heng thanked the government and people of Vietnam for the gift which he said shows the close bond between the two countries.

The Cambodian government expects that the two countries will continue to further strengthen solidarity and cooperation so that they will be able to contain the disease together, said the minister.

This is the third consignment of medical supplies the Vietnamese government has donated to its Cambodian counterpart to assist it with the COVID-19 fight.

Previously, in April 2020 and April 2021, Vietnam presented Cambodia with many medical supplies including COVID-19 testing systems and biological products, personal protective clothing, medical and antibacterial masks, and financial aid worth US$500,000.
