A seminar on road tourism development and co-operation between Vietnam, Laos, China and Thailand was held on May 3 by the Vietnam Administration of Tourism (VNAT), attracting representatives from more than 30 international travel agencies and 150 tourism trading companies from Vietnam, Laos, China and Thailand.

Participants at the seminar highly valued the tourism potential of the Vietnam, Laos, Thailand, and China road systems, saying the governments of these countries have adopted many incentive policies to boost tourism development and improved administration reform to attract more tourists. These countries have closely coordinated with each other to promote tourism.

Participants also mentioned a lot of difficulties travel agencies are still facing such as poor transport systems and cumbersome immigration procedures at Vietnamese border gates.

Speaking at the seminar, Vu The Binh, head of the travel department said these countries should strengthen co-operation to boost road tourism development. In the near future, the VNAT will increase its investment in upgrading Vietnamese international border gates to create favourable conditions for tourists to quickly clear immigration procedures.
