Vietnam, Japan reach short-term travel agreement

The Foreign Ministry has issued a press communiqué on the agreement on short-term travel between Vietnam and Japan.

Also known as the priority travelling mechanism for Japanese entrants to Vietnam for less than 14 days and for Vietnamese businesspeople travelling to Japan, the agreement will be applicable from November 1.

Priority cases will be exempted from quarantine to make it easier for them to conduct investment, trade, and diplomatic and consular activities.

They will be tested for the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, which causes COVID-19, prior to departure and upon arrival, provide their itinerary in advance, and only travel to work-related locations.

Vietnamese and Japanese authorities will issue specific guidelines on the subjects, conditions, principles, and steps covered by the mechanism.
