Vietnam helps Laos build Public Security Academy in Vientiane

VOV.VN - A groundbreaking ceremony for the Lao People’s Public Security Academy - a Vietnamese gift to Laos - took place in Vientiane capital on August 25.

Addressing the ceremony, Vietnamese Minister of Public Security To Lam noted the project is a symbol of the special solidarity between the two Parties, States and peoples of Vietnam and Laos in general, and between the police forces of the two countries in particular.

The groundbreaking of the academy is expected to make a practical contribution to celebrating 60 years of bilateral diplomacy, 40 years of the Friendship and Cooperation Treaty and the Friendship Year 2022 between Vietnam and Laos, as well as to strengthening the relationship between the two countries for the longevity and prosperous development of the two peoples, the Vietnamese General stressed.

He also affirmed that the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam stays ready to accompany and support its Lao counterpart in preparing materials and training staff as soon as the building is put into use.

In his speech, General Vilay Lakhamphong, Politburo member, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Public Security of Laos, thanked the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam for its support, and affirmed that the project will help the Lao security forces fulfill their tasks, especially in political theory training.

The Lao People’s Public Security Academy will be built on an area of 6.5 hectares in the new administrative center in Vientiane. It is expected to have 150 teachers and staff and train approximately 1,200 students a year.
