Vietnam Coast Guard rescues five distressed Chinese sailors at sea
VOV.VN - The ship CSB 8005 under the Command of Coast Guard Region 3 of Vietnam in collaboration with a Vietnamese fishing vessel have rescued five Chinese crew members of a sinking ship in the waters off Con Dao island in the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau.
The Command of Coast Guard on December 30 received a request for assistance to rescue a distressed fishing boat in the waters located roughly 60 nautical miles southeast of Con Dao.
Upon receiving the report, the command centre contacted the Vietnam Coast Guard ship CSB 8005 en route from India to Vietnam after a four-day joint sea exercise with Indian Coast Guard, asking for help to save the seafarers.
Colonel Nguyen Minh Khanh, deputy commander and chief of staff of the Coast Guard Region 3 Command, immediately conducted a search and rescue mission at sea without delay.
By 17:30 p.m. the ship approached the fishing vessel BTr 93992 TS, that had earlier rescued five Chinese sailors from a sinking boat captained by Lai Kin Wah of China due to strong winds and rough seas.
The five Chinese sailors were subsequently brought to the ship CSB 8005 and given medical assistance. They were all in stable health condition.
