Vietnam and Japan share experience in trade union activities

VOV.VN - The Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, in collaboration with the Japan International Labor Foundation (JILAF), hosted a conference on January 11 in Ho Chi Minh City to share experience in trade union activities among enterprises.

Le Dinh Quang, deputy head of the Labour Relation Department under the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour (VGCL), said amid numerous COVID-19 challenges and a global economic recession, heightening the role and responsibilities of trade union organisations will contribute to improving efficiency in establishing labour relations. In addition, it will ensure the welfare of trade union members and employees.

In order to effectively implement trade union activities moving into the new situation, Quang emphasised that trade unions at all levels need to mobilise their resources and create a drastic change in terms of quality as a means of protecting the legitimate interests of workers.

This move will therefore contribute to consolidating and strengthening the close bond that exists between trade union members and employees towards creating a strong trade union organisation in the socialist-oriented market economy.

For his part, Moto Bayashi, vice president of the JILAF, briefed on the history of the organisation, noting that the current activities of Japanese international workers are based on two main pillars. This includes the establishment of labour relations among enterprises and workers in the non-official sector to ensure the elimination of child labour.

During the course of the conference, delegates took time to discuss labour relations in Japan, a number of legal provisions relating to labour relations in the Japanese market, as well as the experience in service and welfare for union members.
