Vietnam Airlines repatriates close to 360 citizens from US

VOV.VN - Nearly 360 Vietnamese citizens, including children under the age of 18, the elderly, people with illnesses, students without accommodation due to dormitory closure and others in extremely difficulty circumstances were repatriated home safe and sound on December 1.

The flight carrying the citizens was arranged by Vietnamese authorities, the Vietnamese Embassy in the US, national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines, in coordination with competent agencies of the host nation.

Ahead of the flight, Vietnamese representative agencies sent staff to the airport to assist the citizens with necessary boarding procedures.

Vietnam Airlines strictly carried out in-flight security and disease prevention measures to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2.

All crew members and passengers underwent compulsory medical checkups and were put into isolation in line with regulations regarding COVID-19 prevention and control as soon as they landed at Da Nang international airport.

More repatriation flights are set to be conducted in the coming time to bring home Vietnamese citizens with disadvantaged circumstances, depending on their need, the epidemic containment situation and local quarantine capacity.
