Computing for remote diagnosis and medical information management was the main theme of a seminar held in central Hue city on March 24.

The seminar was co-organised by the US Atlantic Philanthropies (A.P) and the Health Department of Thua Thien-Hue province.

The event was attended by representatives of A.P donation’s recipients, including Health Departments of Thai Nguyen, Thua Thien-Hue, Khanh Hoa and Vinh Long provinces and Da Nang city.

Participants heard experiences on IT application in diagnosis and treatment, new techniques for remote diagnosis and modes of building medical information management systems in India and Laos.

According to Nguyen Dung, Director of the Thua Thien-Hue provincial Health Department, the application of IT in management of patients’ records at hospitals and medical programmes have helped patients reach appropriate medical services for health recovery and reintegration into the community.

Since 2002, A.P has invested in several fields in Vietnam, including health care, education and transport. In Thua Thien-Hue, the organisation helped equip all commune medical stations with computers to manage medical information and activities.
