UPDATE: A further 16 COVID-19 cases detected over six hours

VOV.VN - The Ministry of Health has confirmed an additional 16 locally transmitted infections in five localities during the past six hours, according to its coronavirus update released at 12.00am.

Thirteen cases were detected at quarantine facilities and three at the K Cancer Hospital No2 in Hanoi which remains under a lockdown order, said the MoH.

Bac Ninh, a coronavirus hotspot, recorded seven cases, followed by Hanoi (3), Lang Son (2), Nam Dinh (2), Thai Binh (1) and Hung Yen (1).

Earlier in the morning, the MoH announced 29 community infections, including 10 in Bac Giang province, another coronavirus hotspot.

Vietnam has so far recorded a total of 3,756 COVID-19 cases, including 2,298 local infections. As many as 2,657 patients have been discharged from hospital after making a full recovery from the disease.

Of the remaining patients, 92 have tested negative for the SARS-CoV-2 virus at least once.

The number of quarantined people returning from epidemic hit countries and coming into contact with COVID-19 patients has increased to more than 83,000.

The number of COVID-19 fatalities remains at 35, including 31 in Da Nang, 3 in Quang Nam and 1 in Quang Tri.
