Typhoon Yinxing weakens rapidly due to cold air
VOV.VN - Typhoon Yinxing is forecast to weaken rapidly when encountering cold air, with the weather event set to head towards the mainland of central provinces from Quang Nam to Binh Dinh, according to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting.
Forecasters said at 10 a.m. on November 9, the typhoon’s centre was located in the North East Sea, approximately 415km northeast of the Hoang Sa (Paracel) archipelago with the strongest winds near its centre reaching between 150km and 166km per hour.
Over the course of the next 72 hours, Typhoon Yinxing is expected to move southwest at speeds of about between 10km and 15km per hour, thereafter weakening into a tropical depression and then into a low pressure area.
According to meteorologists, due to the impact of the storm, there will be strong winds in the North East Sea area and rough seas with high waves of up to six metres.
Vessels operating in the dangerous areas are likely to be affected by whirlwinds, strong winds, and big waves.
