Two men arrested for illegal trade of endangered species
VOV.VN - Police based in the southcentral coastal province of Binh Thuan have busted two criminal gangs involved in the illegal transporting and trading of endangered, precious, and rare animals in the area.
Accordingly, at 8:40 a.m. on January 17, police forces caught a Vietnamese man, 33, from Thanh Luong village in Chi Cong commune red-handed as he was transporting three live animals suspected to be turtles and muntjac.
Upon searching the suspect’s residence, local authorities discovered a live Java pangolin, six live turtles, and two live Asiatic brush-tailed porcupines.
Furthermore, on the same day, another suspect, a 51-year-old man residing in Tuy Tinh 2 village in Phong Phu commune, was also arrested as he was carrying three dead animals suspected to be langurs. The animal is classified under Group IB - endangered forest animals.
A further investigation into the case is now underway.
