Two large hospitals take shape in HCM City to treat COVID-19 patients

VOV.VN - The Hospital for Tropical Diseases and the Cu Chi Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City will be transformed into healthcare facilities to specifically treat COVID-19 patients, according to the municipal Department of Health.

Tang Chi Thuong, deputy director of the department, says local healthcare facilities have so far received and treat more than 500 COVID-19 patients, and the number is set to keep rising in the coming days following the fresh outbreak in the city.

The city has worked out a plan to arrange 2,000 beds for COVID-19 patients at present and raise its capacity to receive 5,000 patients in the worst-case scenario. To carry out the plan, local health officials have decided to transform its Hospital for Tropical Diseases and the Cu Chi Hospital to treat COVID-19 patients only.

Both hospitals are designed to accommodate 900 beds in total, according to local officials.

Doctors, nurses, and healthcare workers have been required to undergo quick training in preparation for receiving COVID-19 patients in the near future.
