Tornado causes severe damage on Phu Quy Island

VOV.VN - A tornado triggered by tropical storm Bebinca caused serious property damage on Phu Quy Island in Binh Thuan province on the morning of August 14.

The tornado is the fourth to hit Vietnam this year and according to statistics from the Ngu Phung commune People’s Committee its path of destruction left 63 houses unroofed, vast amounts of property ruined and many hectares of subsidiary crops destroyed.

The head offices of the People’s Committee and Military Command of Ngu Phung commune, and Phu An commune’s market lost their roofs in the violent winds. Losses are estimated at more than VND1.5 billion.

Local authorities are working with soldiers to assist local people in repairing their houses so that their lives can return to normal.
