Thua Thien-Hue presents gifts to Laotian military forces and locals

VOV.VN - Border forces operating in Thua Thien-Hue province handed over gifts to military troops and citizens of Saravane and Sekong provinces in Laos during an event held on September 23.

The presentation saw the unit hand over 225 gifts, consisting 2.5 tonnes of rice, 500 face masks, along with 30 boxes of instant noodles, among other items.

Upon addressing the event, Major Sengvisay Phetsaikham, a representative from Se Kong Provincial Military Command, expressed his thanks to the Vietnamese side for their ongoing support. He also stressed that their support can be considered very meaningful due to both countries implementing measures to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic. Indeed, the two Laotian provinces are facing numerous difficulties due to a lack of trading activities.

Recent years has seen plenty of co-operation among provinces from the two countries, in addition to the strengthening of ties between each nation’s armed forces.

Furthermore, the armed forces of the two sides have also strived to improve information exchange activities and promptly detected a variety of crimes, therefore contributing to improving the effectiveness of COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control at the border area between Vietnam and Laos.

This comes after border guard forces operating at the border, along with authorities of A Luoi district, also presented gifts aimed at supporting members of the Laotian military and local people residing in border areas. The support is aimed at helping them to ease difficulties, stabilise their lives, and tighten the solidarity between border guard forces and local people from the two sides.
