Three individuals prosecuted for organizing acts of illegal entry
VOV.VN - Police operating in the southern province of Long An stated on June 13 that they successfully detained and have started to prosecute three people for attempting to assist groups of Chinese citizens to enter the country illegally, before continuing their journey to Cambodia.
The three individuals arrested include 48-year-old Doan Le Trung of Binh Tan district in Ho Chi Minh City, 28-year-old Tran Thanh Minh of Thanh Son commune in Dinh Quan district of Dong Nai province, and 32-year-old Duong Thanh Pham of Long Hung A commune in Lap Vo district of Dong Thap province.
According to information released by police forces, they discovered a group of Chinese citizens who were staying illegally at a hotel in Duc Hoa town in Long An province.
Upon being questioned by the authorities, the Chinese nationals confessed that they were being supported when illegally entering the nation by three Vietnamese people.
A further investigation into the case is currently underway.
According to Vietnamese law, organising for others to illegally enter or reside in the country is punishable by one to 15 years in prison, depending on the severity of each individual case.
