Tens of thousands attend National Flag ceremony at Ba Dinh Square
VOV.VN - Tens of thousands of Vietnamese patriots from all parts of the country attended the National Day flag presentation ceremony at Ba Dinh Square in Hanoi on the morning of September 2.
Above is a view of the crowds as they begin to gather for the ceremony. |
Many people, like those pictured, travelled hundreds of kilometres from other provinces to attend the event. |
Pictured is a group of more than 60 Cao Lan ethnic minority people from the district of Ham Yen in Tuyen Quang Province who travelled great distances to participate in the ceremony. |
As an exception to normal protocol, the national flag was not lowered yesterday (on the evening of September 1) so that the flag presentation ceremony does not have a flag raising ritual. |
At 6am, soldiers of the Command for Protection of Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum begin the ceremony. |
The flag honour guard is comprised of 34 soldiers representing the first 34 members of the forces of the Armed Propaganda Unit for National Liberation, the predecessor of the Vietnam People’s Army. |
