Students ready for nationwide high school graduation exam 2026

The national exam is one of the most important annual events in Vietnam’s education system, serving both as the basis for high school graduation certification and for university and college admissions.

On June 10, candidates arrived at exam venues nationwide to complete mandatory procedures, including checking personal information, candidate numbers, exam rooms and permitted items, while also listening to explanations of exam regulations. The step is intended to help students avoid mistakes and ensure they fully understand the rules before entering the exam room.

Volunteer youth teams continued to implement the support campaign, helping students and their families locate exam rooms, navigate to venues, receive drinking water and maintain safety around examination areas. Local authorities also coordinated traffic management and security measures to create the most favourable conditions for candidates.

According to reports from several provinces and cities, exam venues had completed preparations for facilities and equipment, including desks, lighting systems, fans and contingency plans for bad weather or unexpected incidents. Exam papers had been securely sealed and measures to ensure confidentiality and exam security were being strictly implemented.

Representatives of local exam councils said all major preparations had been completed, ensuring the exam would be conducted seriously, safely and in full compliance with regulations. Invigilators have also received training on procedures, emergency handling and updated regulations for this year’s exam.

This year’s high school graduation exam continues to be organised with stronger application of technology in exam management and supervision, while authorities have tightened measures to prevent cheating, particularly high-tech cheating methods.

Many students said they had largely completed their revision and were maintaining a stable mindset ahead of the important exam. Some planned to spend the evening before the test reviewing key knowledge and resting to ensure good health.

Under the current format, candidates will sit four subjects, including Mathematics and Literature as compulsory subjects, along with one elective examination combining two subjects selected from groups such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History, Geography, Economic and Legal Education, Foreign Languages, Informatics or Technology.
