Students in Danang to receive free swimming training

Swim Vietnam, a charity based in central Vietnam, will provide free swimming training courses for students and teachers in the central city of Danang from 2017.

Swim Vietnam representative Joanne Stewart said at a meeting with the city's leadership recently that her organisation would boost cooperation with Danang in building a big swimming pool and provide swimming education and training for teachers and drowning prevention skills.

According to Swim Vietnam, over 17,500 children have been taught to swim since its activity started in central Vietnam in 2008. Over 160 adults have been trained as swimming teachers.

Over 30,000 primary school children have attended Swim Vietnam's classroom-based water safety education presentations. The organisation also operates eight swimming schools.

Danang is the first locality to provide swimming training for students at all primary schools.
