Streets of Hanoi inundated by heavy rain

VOV.VN -A heavy downpour that suddenly hit Hanoi at 23:00 on April 29 left many of the capital’s streets severely flooded.

Streets throughout the Old Quarter suffered badly from the heavy rain.
In a short space of time up to 40 cm of rainfall fell on Nguyen Thai Hoc street.
Several road users were trapped in the heavy rain as the downpour lasted throughout the night.
A Mercedes car was towed to safety on Vuong Thua Vu street after breaking down because of engine failure.

Popular tourist spots such as Ta Hien and Luong Ngoc Quyen streets suffered from severe flooding.
Many homes of local residents were also damaged in the flooding. 
Many businesses and restaurants were forced to close early in order to clean up.
The 30-minute downpour essentially turned Hanoi’s Old Quarter into a river.
A cyclo service offered to take pass across the flooded roads  for VND500,000.
On Tho Nhuom street, the water level rose higher than the wheels of a motorcycle.
The street became a torrent of water.
Waves created by passing buses caused many motorbikes to fall.
