Storm Damrey strikes central and south-central coastal provinces

VOV.VN - Storm Damrey has wreaked havoc in central and south-central coastal provinces, causing huge damage to these localities.

Residents of Tho Quang ward, Son Tra district, Da Nang city cleaned the streets while it rained in preparation for APEC Economic Leaders’ Week beginning on November 6.

Overnight on November 3 and into the morning of November 4, heavy rain and strong wind triggered by Storm Damrey caused hundreds of banners and billboards advertising APEC Economic Leaders’ Week to collapse.

A welcome gate to Bien Dong (East Sea) Park fell, barricading Vo Nguyen Giap Road.

Streets in Nha Trang City were inundated with water.

A car was buried beneath a sheet-metal roof on 2/4 Road, Nha Trang City.

A cultural house was used as a shelter for Nha Trang people.

Sheet-metal roofs littered the streets of Nha Trang.

A tree was uprooted on the street of Tuy Hoa city.

The storm unroofed many houses in Khanh Hoa Province.

Fuel pumps were blown over.


Tran Thanh Nam, chairman of Van Thanh commune People’s Committee in Van Ninh district, Khanh Hoa province, said most houses in the village lost their roofs and suffered other damages as they are not concrete houses.

Nha Trang people cannot travel on the streets as there was power cut and fallen trees block streets throughout the whole city.

Ninh Hoa Town was in the same situation.

Nobody traveled on Highway 1A.

In Cam Lam district, many trees were knocked over and many houses’ roofs were blown away.
