SOS Children's Villages International President visits Vietnam

VOV.VN - Deputy Minister of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA) Nguyen Thi Ha on March 24 received SOS Children’s Villages International led by President Dereje Wordofa Gidda.

Ha highly appreciated SOS Children’s Villages International’s effective cooperation with Vietnam over the years, saying the organisation was one of the first international partners of Vietnam in its early years of opening to the world.

She expressed her belief that SOS Children’s Villages International and Vietnam will continue to promote the good results of cooperation they have recorded over the past three decades and make appropriate adjustments to the new context.

In response, Gidda hailed the long-term, effective cooperation between SOS Children’s Village International and Vietnam over the years, noting 17 SOS Children’s Villages have been established across the country.

He expected that SOS Children’s Villages in Vietnam would continue to receive greater support from the Government and the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs to facilitate the operation of these villages. He also affirmed the importance of mobilizing resources from domestic organizations and individuals in running these villages in Vietnam.

Gidda proposed that the two sides review and supplement the 1987 agreement and the 2009 memorandum of understanding to give the best care and support to needy children.
