SARS-CoV-2 virus spreads to 26 localities, 78 more infections recorded

VOV.VN - The Ministry of Health announced an additional 78 coronavirus cases on the morning of May 10 as the SARS-CoV-2 has spread to more than one third of Vietnam’s localities.

Of the total, 27 cases were reported in Bac Ninh’s province, nearly 40km away from Hanoi capital.

Authorities of Vinh Phuc province, which is also a gateway to Hanoi, confirmed 19 more community infections. The locality is one of the country’s coronavirus hotspots, with dozens of cases closely linked to the Sunny bar.

Elsewhere, 13 cases were confirmed in Da Nang, five in Bac Giang, one each in Dak Lak, Dien Bien, Lang Son, Hoa Binh, and Da Nang.

Three infections were documented in Hanoi capital closely tied to the fresh outbreak at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases No2. Notably, the three patients are members of a family.

As of 06.00hrs May 10 Vietnam has confirmed 411 COVID-19 cases in 26 cities and provinces since the virus resurged on April 28.

More than one fourth of the cases have been detected in Hanoi, mostly at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases No2.

The municipal administration has called on local people to stay indoors as much as possible in an effort to halt the spread of the virus.

The city has advised local people to strictly abide by the Ministry of Health’s COVID-19 rules, including wearing face masks, avoiding large gatherings and keeping a safe distance if they go out for food or medicine for other necessary things.
