RoK Zika case may have been infected in Vietnam
The Republic of Korea (RoK) on May 7 confirmed that its fourth national to contract the Zika virus had recently returned from a trip to Vietnam.
She returned to the RoK on May 1 and tested positive on May 7 when she visited the Catholic University of Korea Incheon St. Mary’s hospital in the western city of Incheon.
Vietnam’s health authorities have requested the RoK provide more details on where the patient worked, lived and travelled during her time in Vietnam.
The Ministry of Health has tightened controls on tests of persons with suspected Zika infections nationwide.
It also recommended people take measures to protect themselves from mosquito bites and eliminate mosquitoes and larvae in their neighbourhood.
