Revised airport plan envisages 37 airports in Vietnam by 2050
VOV.VN - A revised National Airport System Plan approved by the Ministry of Construction envisages a network of 37 airports in Vietnam by 2050 with a combined designed capacity of about 533.5 million passengers a year.
The plan also adds a second international airport for the Hanoi capital region and revises plans for aviation logistics and aircraft maintenance centers.
Under the revised National Airport System Plan for 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, Vietnam will continue to manage, invest in and efficiently operate its existing airports during the 2021-2030 period, while continuing planning for a network of 36 airports, comprising 19 international and 17 domestic airports.
By 2030, the airport system is projected to have a combined designed capacity of more than 249 million passengers a year, with total investment estimated at about VND577.572 trillion.
According to the plan's vision to 2050, the national airport network will comprise 37 airports- 20 international and 17 domestic- through the addition of a second international airport for the Hanoi capital region.
Once completed, the network will have a combined design capacity of about 533.5 million passengers a year, with total investment estimated at around VND586.505 trillion. The revised plan also updates and expands plans for aviation logistics centers at airports handling 250,000 tonnes of cargo or more a year to strengthen warehousing capacity and multimodal connectivity.
In addition, it sets a goal of establishing aircraft maintenance and repair centers at airports where demand exists, giving priority to major airports with integrated infrastructure and well-developed international route networks.
More than 90 weekly flights to resume at Lien Khuong Airport from August 19
The Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) has announced that 91 return flights per week will resume services to Lien Khuong International Airport in the central province of Lam Dong when the airport is scheduled to reopen on August 19.
