Remains of eight Vietnamese volunteer soldiers, experts brought home from Laos
VOV.VN - A handover ceremony for the remains of eight Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who sacrificed their lives in Laos was solemnly held in Laos’ Bolikhamsai province on May 23 before the martyrs were brought home for reburial in the central province of Ha Tinh.
The ceremony took place at the hall of the Bolikhamsai provincial administration, where a delegation from Ha Tinh coordinated with the Party organisation, authorities and people of the Lao province to hold a memorial and handover ceremony for the fallen soldiers.
The event was co-chaired by Ha Tinh Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Nguyet and Loun Vi Lay Chan Tha La Phan, Deputy Secretary of the Bolikhamsai provincial Party Committee, with the participation of representatives from agencies, sectors and armed forces of both provinces.
At the ceremony, delegates offered flowers and incense in tribute to the fallen soldiers, who sacrificed their lives for the independence of the two nations and in fulfilment of international duties.
Speaking at the event, Nguyen Thi Nguyet expressed deep gratitude to the Party organisation, authorities and people of Bolikhamsai province, as well as local communities across Laos, for caring for the martyrs’ graves over the years.
According to the plan, the remains of the fallen soldiers were to be transported through Cau Treo International Border Gate on the morning of May 24 for traditional repatriation rites before being reburied at Nam Martyrs’ Cemetery in Ha Tinh province.
