OVs in New Zealand celebrate Lunar New Year
VOV.VN - The Vietnamese Embassy in New Zealand has held a get-together in Auckland with overseas Vietnamese and New Zealand friends to cheer the upcoming traditional Lunar New Year festival (Tet).
Ambassador Nguyen Viet Dung sent New Year wishes to the OVs community and briefed the participants on current situation in the homeland.
In 2015, despite complicated economic situation in the region and the world, Vietnam’s economy maintained the growth rate of 6.68% - higher than the set target of 6.2%. Political stability and social security were ensured.
Vietnam and New Zealand has seen steady development and significant progress in their comprehensive partnership, Ambassador Dung said.
Last year also witnessed a wide range of activities, particularly Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung’s visit to New Zealand in March and PM John Key’s visit to Vietnam in November to mark the 40th anniversary of diplomatic ties.
Ambassador Dung hoped that OVs in New Zealand will further strengthen solidarity, preserve national and cultural identities including the Vietnamese language and join hands to promote bilateral friendship and comprehensive cooperation.
