Over VND4.44 billion disbursed to support employees during Tet
VOV.VN - About VND4.44 billion has been disbursed to support 6.5 million trade union members and workers on the occasion of the traditional Lunar New Year (Tet) festival, the biggest of its kind in Vietnam, according to the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour (VGCL).
Out of the total, approximately VND4.24 billion worth of gifts and cash was provided for nearly 4.5 million trade union members and employees.
Financial support was also given in various forms by presenting gifts, purchasing train tickets, cars, or airfares.
In addition, 1,855 free bus rides worth nearly VND36 billion were arranged to transport roughly 388,000 workers home to celebrate Tet with their families, while 694 houses worth over VND19 billion were donated to support workers in difficult circumstances on this occasion.
This year, the VGCL plans to organise a Tet market programme at trade unions across 22 localities nationwide, with top priority given to those in remote areas.
It has also arranged visits for Party and State leaders to present gifts to trade union members and employees on the occasion of the Lunar New Year.
