Over 100 OV youths to join 2026 Vietnam Summer Camp
VOV.VN - More than 100 overseas Vietnamese youths from 35 countries and territories will return to Vietnam this month for the 2026 Vietnam Summer Camp to deepen their understanding of the country's history, culture and heritage while strengthening their connection with their ancestral homeland.
According to the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, this year's camp will take place from July 12 to 25, bringing together 105 young overseas Vietnamese from around the world.
During the 14-day programme, participants will visit a wide range of destinations across northern, central and southern regions, including Hanoi, Ninh Binh, Nghe An, Quang Tri, Hue, Da Nang, Gia Lai, and Khanh Hoa.
The itinerary is designed to introduce participants to Vietnam's cultural and historical heritage through visits to some of the country's most iconic sites, including several UNESCO-recognised heritage properties such as the Complex of Hue Monuments, Hoi An Ancient Town, My Son Sanctuary and Nhã nhạc (Vietnam’s royal court music).
Beyond sightseeing, participants will take part in educational activities focused on Vietnamese history and traditions, cultural exchanges and Vietnamese-language learning, helping foster a stronger sense of identity, cultural pride and responsibility towards their homeland.
The programme also includes visits to the President Ho Chi Minh Relic Site at the Presidential Palace and the Kim Lien Special National Relic Site in Nghe An, as well as tribute ceremonies at the Long Dại Ferry Martyrs Memorial and the Gac Ma Soldiers Memorial.
To enhance participants' understanding of Vietnam's maritime heritage, the delegation will also visit the Hoang Sa Exhibition House and the Nha Trang Institute of Oceanography.
A variety of experiential activities have been arranged, including exchanges with officers and cadets at the Naval Academy, demonstrations of traditional Tay Son martial arts, astronomy activities at the Quy Nhon Centre for Science Discovery (ExploraScience Quy Nhon), and cultural and sporting events promoting the Vietnamese language.
One of the highlights of this year's programme will be meetings with distinguished overseas Vietnamese intellectuals and artists, who are to share their personal experiences in education, research, innovation and community engagement.
These exchanges aim to inspire younger generations of overseas Vietnamese to contribute to both their local communities and Vietnam's long-term development.
The opening ceremony of the 2026 Vietnam Summer Camp will be held on the evening of July 13 in Hanoi, and the closing ceremony will take place on the evening of July 24 at 2/4 Square in Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa province.
Launched in 2004, the Vietnam Summer Camp has become one of the flagship annual programmes for overseas Vietnamese organised by the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs in cooperation with ministries and localities.
Over the past two decades, the programme has helped thousands of young overseas Vietnamese strengthen their understanding of the country's history and culture, preserve their Vietnamese identity and language, and reinforce their ties with the homeland.
Beyond preserving cultural identity, the programme also reflects Vietnam's long-term efforts to engage younger generations of overseas Vietnamese as an important source of knowledge, innovation and international connectivity in support of the country's future development.
