Outbreak of A/H5N6 detected in Lang Son

VOV.VN - Cases of the A/H5N6 virus, more commonly known as bird flu, have been detected in the northern province of Lang Son, according to Trang Dinh district’s People’s Committee.

The outbreak of the virus was discovered in a poultry farm in Dai Dong commune of Lang Son province. The discovery has led local authorities to take drastic measures to prevent the further spread of the epidemic.

Lang Son have also set up five quarantine stations in order to spray disinfectants and strictly monitor the transportation of poultry and poultry-based products in and out of the infected areas.

Previously, a flock of poultry had been reported dead without any clear cause in Phien Luong hamlet of Dai Dong commune, Trang Dinh district. Samples of the dead poultry were taken at the scene and sent for testing where it was discovered they had died as a result of the A/H5N6 virus.

Local authorities have been urgently working in collaboration with relevant agencies to take steps to stamp out the epidemic by culling all poultry in the infected farm, spraying disinfectants, and setting up quarantine stations.

In addition, signposts that ban the slaughter, trade, and transportation of poultry and poultry products in affected areas have been put.

Currently more than 600 birds at farms in Phieng Luon hamlet have been culled after shown signs of being affected.
