One man arrested for arranging illegal entry from Cambodia
VOV.VN - A Vietnamese man has been detained for organising illegal border crossings for individuals attempting to enter the country from Cambodia, according officials of the Long Binh border gate in An Giang province.
The arrest of the suspect comes after he was caught in the process of attempting to illegally bring in two Vietnamese nationals from Cambodia into the nation around the Long Binh border gate at approximately 11 p.m. on December 5.
Upon being questioned, 39-year-old Vo Van Trieu of An Giang province confessed that he was hired by a woman in Cambodia to take two Vietnamese men, 18-year-old Truong Huu Luan and 16-year-old Phi Huy Hoang, both of Hai Phong city, into the country.
Border guards on duty at the Long Binh border gate punished Truong Huu Luan with a fine VND3 million, equivalent to US$130.4, whilst Phi Huy Hoang was fined VND1.5 million, equal to US$65.21, for illegal entry. The pair were immediately put into a quarantine area in An Phu district in order to follow relevant novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic containment measures.
Following the arrest of the man, police began the process of bringing legal procedures against Vo Van Trieu.
