VOV.VN - The Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) on September 23 received the token of US$300,000 in aid from the Sultanate of Oman to support a number of flood-hit central provinces of Vietnam.

Upon addressing a ceremony to hand over the token of the aid grant, Omani Ambassador to Vietnam Saleh Mohamed Ahmed Al Saqri expressed his sympathy over human and asset losses caused by flooding in recent years in Vietnam’s central provinces. He said he hopes that the assistance will help the affected localities overcome difficulties and stabilise their lives soon.

A VFF representative thanked the Omani Government and people for their practical support, adding that the aid will be distributed to flood-hit localities soon so as to bring local residents' lives back to normal.

Receiving the Omani Ambassador after the hand-over ceremony, Deputy Foreign Minister Pham Quang Hieu hailed the efforts of the Omani diplomat and the Embassy in Vietnam in stepping up cooperation between the two countries as well as between the two foreign ministries.

Both sides also discussed and agreed on a number of measures to further improve the effectiveness of cooperation in politics-diplomacy, economy, trade and investment.

Deputy FM Hieu asked the Omani side to provide continued support for Vietnam's fight against COVID-19, making it easier for the nation to have access to vaccines and medical equipment to overcome the pandemic as soon as possible.

The Omani Ambassador said he believes that the Vietnamese Government and people will soon bring COVID-19 under control and restore economic development.

He also expressed his hope that the Oman-Vietnam friendship and cooperation will continue to grow and flourish in the time ahead.
