NGOs grant over 2,000 scholarships to poor students from Quang Nam

VOV.VN - Foreign non-governmental organisations (NGOs) have granted over 2,100 scholarships worth a total of VND6.5 billion to underprivileged students from the central province of Quang Nam during the 2018-2019 academic year through the Study Encouragement Association.

Pacific Links Foundation presented 476 Scholarships to Elevate Education & Develop Skills, also known as the SEEDS scholarships, worth nearly VND3.8 billion, while France’s Passerelles Numériques granted 1,605 scholarships worth a total of VND1.8 billion.

Cathay United Bank has also provided disadvantaged students with scholarships worth a total of VND963 million.

The scholarship program seeks to improve the overall quality of studying for poor students from rural areas, boost attendance rates, equip young people with the necessary skills that will be of benefit to their future careers, while overall contributing to developing high-level human resources for the wider community.

Aside from a scholarship program ran by foreign NGOs, Quang Nam Study Encouragement Association also granted 152 scholarships worth VND1 million each to poor students to encourage them to study harder.
