More Vietnamese volunteer soldiers’ remains repatriated from Cambodia
VOV.VN - Team K92 of the Political Division under the An Giang Provincial Military Command, has recovered 56 unidentified martyrs’ remains during the 2025-2026 dry season search campaign in Cambodia and Vietnam.
According to Senior Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Thanh Hung, commander of Team K92, the unit conducted extensive search and recovery operations in both countries as part of Vietnam's ongoing efforts to locate and repatriate the remains of wartime personnel.
In Cambodia, K92 personnel were stationed in Kampot City and Preah Sihanouk Province, where they collected and verified 54 information sources and conducted excavation operations at 63 locations. They excavated more than 49,000 cubic meters of soil and recovered 29 sets of martyrs’ remains in Kampot, Kep and Preah Sihanouk.
While in Vietnam, the team found the remains of 27 unidentified martyrs in Kien Luong commune (An Giang).
K92 is responsible for locating and recovering the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died while serving in four Cambodian provinces, namely Kampot, Kep, Preah Sihanouk and Koh Kong.
Throughout the mission, the unit worked closely with Cambodian authorities, armed forces and local residents to verify information, conduct surveys and organise search operations.
Since 2001 Team K92 has collected a total of 3,244 sets of martyrs' remains, comprising 2,174 belonging to Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who sacrificed their lives in Cambodia during various periods.
The team worked closely with local authorities, residents and competent agencies in the host country to locate and recover these fallen soldiers, ensuring that they were brought home and laid to rest with solemn ceremonies.
K92 Team plans to continue expanding surveys, gathering information and strengthening cooperation with local authorities and Cambodian partners in order to improve the effectiveness of future recovery missions. These efforts not only help bring fallen servicemen home but also contribute to further strengthening the friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia.
Five sets of Vietnamese martyr remains recovered in Cambodia
Search Team K91 under the Dong Thap provincial Military Command, following nearly one month of deployment in Cambodia's Prey Veng province, recovered the remains of five Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who laid down their lives in the country.
