More students receive German state’s scholarships

As many as 71 outstanding students studying at universities and colleges in Vietnam’s southern localities were granted scholarships each worth 216 EUR from the German State of Hessen at a ceremony in Ho Chi Minh City on October 5.

The recipients are from disadvantaged backgrounds, many of them are of ethnic minority groups and come from remote areas.

The activity is part of an educational cooperation program between Vietnam’s Ministry of Education and Training and the Hessen State Ministry for Science and Art, which aims to encourage disadvantaged students to improve themselves and pursue their studies.

The scholarship programme has been organised continuously since 1993, benefiting between 150-300 Vietnamese students every year.

This year the programme will grant 250 scholarships.
