More patients discharged from HCM City based field hospital

VOV.VN - No. 1 Field Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City have discharged roughly 9,000 COVID-19 patients over the past month after they made a successful recovery from the virus.

According to a representative of the hospital, an additional 300 cases are set to return home on the afternoon of August 9 in line with the schedule, following their full recovery from the virus after receiving treatment at the site.

The hospital was first put into operation on June 26, covering a total of 4,500 beds located in the dormitory of the Centre for Defence and Security Education of the Vietnam National University’s Ho Chi Minh City branch.

The medical facility is currently applying the “5-storey tower” treatment model when dealing with COVID-19 patients. This sees cases classified into different groups depending on their health condition and treatment methods.

This comes after the municipal Department of Health piloted a scheme to isolate asymptomatic F0 cases at home, with the move now applying to all relevant patients who are in the process of receiving treatment in hospital.

In the event that a patient records a negative RT-PCR test result on day 10, or a positive test result but with low viral load and inability to infect others, then the patient will be sent home to undergo self-isolation. Once home, they will then have to ensure that all safety and infection prevention conditions are fully met. In addition, the patient will also continue to take RT-PCR tests at home on days 14 and 21 of their isolation.
