Missing Vietnamese intern found dead in Israel

VOV.VN - A 29-year-old Vietnamese intern who went missing in Israel six years ago has been found dead in Neot HaKikar, a moshav in Arava valley in Israel.

Nguyen Hai Binh, a student of Ho Chi Minh City University of Agriculture and Forestry, took part in an internship programme in Israel in August 2016 run by the Avara International Centre for Agriculture Training (AICAT).

Without contacting the student more than a month later, the Vietnamese university immediately notified the Vietnamese Embassy in Israel and asked for help. The Embassy then contacted relevant Israeli agencies and Vietnamese expatriates in the country to search for the missing.

The Office of the International Criminal Police Organisation (Interpol) in Israel recently announced that they had found a dead body with Vietnamese identification documents in Naot Hakikar.

The Vietnamese Embassy in Israel worked closely with the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs and local police to handle and implement citizen protection work.

The Israeli side are putting the finishing touches to forensic work, and said they will coordinate closely with the Vietnamese side in dealing with the case, according to the Vietnamese Embassy.

The Embassy also informed relevant Vietnamese agencies and Ho Chi Minh City University of Agriculture and Forestry about the latest development of the case.

Under the Vietnamese Foreign Ministry’s instructions, the Embassy will continue to closely monitor the case, actively work with local authorities and the AICAT to soon have an official conclusion.

The Embassy will also closely coordinate with relevant Vietnamese agencies to arrange post-mortem work on request of the family and take necessary measures to ensure the legitimate rights and interests of Vietnamese citizens.
