Mekong Delta province imposes social distancing as COVID-19 looms

VOV.VN - The Mekong Delta province of Tien Giang has decided to impose a social distancing order on the entire province, starting at 00.00 on June 12, after several community cases were recorded.

Under the decision signed on June 11, local residents are requested to avoid large gatherings, strictly implement COVID-19 guidelines, and only got out for food or other necessities.

The local administration asks localities to suspend events of large gatherings and non-essential services, except for services for people’s daily life.

Tien Giang has recorded three coronavirus cases during the past seven days. The latest two cases that are employees of the Trung Luong – My Thuan expressway project were announced by the Ministry of Health on June 10.

Notably, the two construction workers live in a crowded area. Relevant agencies have identified and quarantined hundreds of people in direct and indirect contact with the two patients.
