Maternity Hospital partially in lockdown as 15 COVID-19 cases confirmed

VOV.VN - Authorities have moved to lock down a building of the Central Maternity Hospital in downtown Hanoi after 15 people tested positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus on December 3.

Twenty-two people have been infected with the virus through rapid tests and 15 of them have been confirmed, said a representative of the administration of Hoan Kiem District where the hospital is located.

Authorities are awaiting the test results of the remaining seven people, said the representative, adding that one of the cases is an employee of the hospital and the remaining cases are patients and their relatives.

The cases have been diagnosed at Building BC through routine screening tests, said the hospital’s management.

Relevant agencies scrambled to cordon off the building and conduct epidemiological investigations to early detect and quarantine suspect cases.

The Hanoi Centre for Disease Control immediately issued an eemergency notice seeking those who had visited Building BC to get contact with the nearest medical centre for a COVID-19 test.

Hanoi has recorded as many as 2,260 new infections during the past week, with almost half of them detected in the community.
