Largest waste-to-energy plant in Hanoi belatedly put into operation
VOV.VN - After enduring several cancellations, the waste-to-energy plant at Nam Son landfill located in Nam Son Waste Treatment Complex of Soc Son district in Hanoi was officially been put into operation on July 25.
Soc Son waste-to-energy plant is officially linked to the national grid and features a designed capacity of the waste incineration in the first phase reaching 15 MW.
The plant boasts five incinerators and three generator sets with a capacity of handling 5,000 tonnes of waste per day, thereby resolving between 60% and 70% of the amount of trash being buried in the capital.
The project features a total investment of approximately VND7 trillion in foreign capital. The main investor is Hanoi-based Thien Y Environmental Energy JSC and its contractor, Metallurgical Group Corporation General Contractor MCC of China.
The factory is anticipated to consume up to 80% of Hanoi's daily landfill waste, a move which will help to reduce environmental pollution throughout the city due to overloaded garbage occurring at landfill sites in Hanoi.
According to a report compiled by the Hanoi Department of Construction, the capital typically discharges between 6,500 tonnes and 7,000 tonmes of garbage each day.
