Lao media hail invaluable Vietnamese assistance in COVID-19 fight
VOV.VN - The Vientiane Times published an article on May 6 hailing the invaluable assistance provided by Vietnam to help Laos in its ongoing fight against the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
According to Lao media outlets, the Vietnamese Government has provided medical specialists and staff, along with funds and medical equipment worth billions of Lao kip to help the neighbouring country contain its COVID-19 outbreaks.
“The Deputy Prime Minister Prof. Dr. Kikeo Khaykhamphithoune, who is Chairman of the National Taskforce for COVID-19 Prevention and Control, expressed gratitude to the Vietnamese Government and people for their kind assistance,” according to an article in the Vientiane Times.
The article also stresses that Vietnam has continued to be an active provider of assistance to Laos in helping their fight against COVID-19 through providing a large number of aid packages.
The media also quote Lao officials as saying that Vietnamese assistance has significantly contributed to their efforts aimed at preventing and controlling the spread of the virus.
