A ceremony was held in central Khanh Hoa province on May 6 to award “Den dom dom” (Fire-fly light) scholarships to 120 pairs of good friends and 50 outstanding poor pupils from the districts of Dien Khanh and Ca Ranh in the 2006-2007 academic year.

With the aim of sharing difficulties, and encouraging poor students to help each other in learning, the “Den dom dom” scholarship programme was launched in April, 2004 and has donated more than 5,000 scholarships worth VND500,000 each to students who are poor but eager to study across the country.

Apart from donating scholarships and gifts, the programme also helped build three schools in three regions: North, Central and South in 2006.
