Hungary donates 100,000 COVID-19 vaccine doses to Vietnam

VOV.VN - The Hungarian Government has decided to donate 100,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine and 100,000 rapid antibody test kits to the Vietnamese Government to cope with the COVID-19 pandemic.

The donations were announced by the Hungarian Government on August 11, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam said on August 12.

The ministry said the gift is a precious gesture that demonstrates the fine relationship that has existed between Vietnam and Hungary over the past 70 years. It also shows the spirit of mutual assistance in difficult times and determination to join hands to fight the COVID-19 pandemic globally.

According to the ministry, given the complex nature of the COVID-19 pandemic, especially the rapid spread of the mutated strains of the virus, the Government of Vietnam is trying to secure vaccine sources and quickly vaccinate general population, considering this an important and urgent solution at present.

Meanwhile, French President Emmanuel Macron unveiled on August 12 that France will donate 670,000 COVID-19 vaccine doses to Vietnam through the COVAX Facility.
